Facebook

I don't think there is much of anything wrong with Facebook. As far as my privacy goes I feel secure about the information that I share with my friends and the information that I share with the world. My settings allow you to see my DOB and relationship statues. All my posts can only be see if you are my "Friend". When it come to content there is nothing there that I wouldn't be OK with my Grandma reading. And when it comes to the digital foot print there is nothing negative that could come back to haunt me. Like if a potential employer were to see it, it would be positive for me. My current employer is one of my friends on there. And about Facebook making money from us, I think that's totally fine. If the profit that Facebook Makes from advertisements keeps it free for us to use I say go ahead.

Cells Can Be Used For Education

Almost all schools have some sort of restrictive or total ban on cell phones. Are these bans working? The answer is no. The bans the schools have in place don't stop kids from doing what they want . Kids are still using there phones in class, hallways, bathrooms, locker rooms, and any other time a teacher isn't watching them or has there back turned.

Many people will tell you this is a serious problem. They're right. So what is the answer to this problem ? Do we need to implement stricter rules, policies, and bans? Do all schools need to have zero tolerance policies? The answer to these questions many agree is no. Instead of banning, blocking, and trying to stop the use of cell phones Educators need to redirect this generations passion for technology into a usable resource.

So what kind of a resource could a cell phone be in the school setting? Use of cell phones allow students access to many online and communication opportunitys. For instance I am a very poor speller so I am limited to the vocabulary that I am able to spell. If I were able to use may cell phone I could easily use it to spell check myself when writing a paper as I have used Google to spell check myself as I wrote this.

A digital foot print is the information you leave behind you on the internet that other people can see. A common and digital foot print are your profiles ans posts on social networking sites like my space and facebook. Technology and Education

Technology is used in a lot of my classes. We use it in things for state state testing to doing homework. If all the teachers used all the same sites and programs to asign asignments so students could just look at one place to see everything they need to do.

Linux Kubuntu

I downloaded the latest version of Linux Kubuntu (10.10)  Tuesday. I burnt the the iso image of the OS to a disk. I switched out the harddrive of my computer for my 250gb harddrive witch i had partioned into 5 volumes the smallest being 30gb and largest one being 50gb. Once I had the OS on the disk I installed  it onto the second partion of the HDD witch is 50gb. After the OS was installed i removed the disk when prompted and the OS that i had just installed restarted it's self and finished it's installation. I like this OS a lot. It has many programs already on it that are new, interesting and useful.

The Google documents thing is amazing. You could have a bunch of people working on the same thing . You can have five ( or more) people typing on 5 different parts of the document at the same time. There is almost no lag , it's as fast as instant messaging.
